Personal data
Data about a person who is identified or can be identified.
Names, ID numbers, addresses, phone numbers, face photos and work history are personal data. The PDP Law also names specific personal data, such as health, biometric, genetic, criminal record, children's and personal financial data, which needs stricter protection. Before pasting data into an AI tool, ask: is this data needed, and may it leave our systems?
Also called: Personal data, specific personal data, PII
