A leave-balance calculator built from a spec

An invented HR team is often asked about leave balances and works them out by hand. Write a short spec of invented leave rules, then build a small web calculator with AI's help that works out remaining leave from start date and leave taken. Done means the calculator passes every test case you wrote before building it, and HR has matched its rules to the policy.

Learn it first: From idea to spec

What you hand in

A one-page spec: invented leave rules, inputs, outputs, and what is out of scope.
At least 10 test cases written before building, including new hires, year rollover and leave over the allowance.
A calculator page that runs in the browser without storing any data.
A test results table: expected, actual, and the fix for any failing case.
Notes from an HR colleague who matched the calculator's rules against the written policy.
