System instructions
Standing instructions that apply to a whole conversation, outside the user's messages.
System instructions set the model's role, style and rules before the user types anything, for example "answer in Indonesian" or "never reveal personal data". In many apps they are written by the app maker. They help, but they are not a perfect safety fence: outside text can still try to bend them.
Also called: System instructions, system prompt
