A small script to tidy scanned file names

An invented office's scan folder holds hundreds of randomly named files. Ask AI to help write a small script that renames them to a date-type-number format, with a trial mode that only prints the plan without changing anything. Done means the script has been tested on a copy folder of invented files and can be undone.

What you hand in

A test folder of at least 30 empty invented files with random names, including duplicates and names with spaces.
A script with trial mode as the default, which renames only when given an explicit option.
A log file of old and new names so the change can be reversed, plus the steps to reverse it.
A note of the parts of the script you read line by line before running it, and the questions you asked AI about them.
Captured output of trial mode and the real run on the test folder, with a note on how duplicate names were handled.
