Type check
An automatic check that the data your code uses matches its declared types, before the program runs.
A type check catches many cheap mistakes quickly. It is not enough on its own: code that passes a type check can still fail in the production build or on real data. Use it as the first filter, then run the tests and the full build.
Also called: Type check, typecheck, type checker
