Further training of an existing model on specific examples so it behaves better for a given task.
Fine-tuning helps with a very consistent style or format. For most office work, a good prompt and the right sources (for example via RAG) are enough and far cheaper. Fine-tuning also does not reliably teach a model the latest facts.
