Mock
A fake stand-in for a service or data in a test, so the test is fast and leaves real systems alone.
A mock keeps a test independent of outside servers or the real database. The risk is that a too-tidy mock lets a test pass while the real system behaves differently. Add a few tests that use a real database or service in a test environment.
