Audit log
A lasting record of who did what, when, to which data.
An audit log lets you answer questions after the fact: who opened this record, which agent sent that message, when a setting changed. For systems that use AI, also record requests to the model and actions agents ran. The audit log itself holds sensitive data, so access to it must be limited.
Also called: Audit log, audit trail
