Idempotency key

A unique marker for one request, so a repeated request is not carried out or charged twice.

Agents often repeat calls: because the network dropped, a timeout hit, or they are unsure the first call worked. Tools that write or charge must accept an idempotency key and treat the same key as the same request. The key marks one request, not one feature or one user.

Also called: Idempotency key, idempotency, idempotent
